Ash-Sharh سُورَةُ الشَّرۡحِ

The Consolation

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ﴿1﴾

Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate,

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ﴿2﴾

And eased thee of the burden

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ﴿3﴾

Which weighed down thy back;

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ﴿4﴾

And exalted thy fame?

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿5﴾

But lo! with hardship goeth ease,

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًۭا ﴿6﴾

Lo! with hardship goeth ease;

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ﴿7﴾

So when thou art relieved, still toil

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ﴿8﴾

And strive to please thy Lord.
